I’d seen the top photo floating around for a LONG time, but never wanted to post it until I found the source. Finally, finally found it tonight. I was browsing Tattooist Art Magazine on Facebook, and they had the photo up with the artist listed as Andrey Flerko. There wasn’t a link for him, so I searched around some more. He doesn’t seem to have a work site, but I found some more photos (the tattoo is done on his wife, Elena Provornaya). If anyone knows a work link for him, please let me know.

You know when you see or hear something familiar and it makes you realise that a part of your life is gone forever. And even if its something minute and childish, it carries this weight that makes you wake up and notice how old you are, or how life works, or death works. You notice how much time you have left with certain people. You notice how big and beautiful the world seemed when you a fearless kid, and how much that view has changed since gravity brought reality crashing down unto your new adult form. I wish for some sick peter pan world where I never had to grow up. Where those around me were as blissfully happy as they seemed, and not stressed out struggling parents and grandparents trying to keep their head above water. Have I reached that head above water age? I it just a mentality? A need for survival? It’s not about having someone to catch me when I fall, I have that. I have more than enough. It’s that the fall in question used to be so literal; like from a tree. Now it’s this looming feeling of failing at everything you have ever strived for. Every risk. Every passed opportunity. So sometimes I get a little upset when I hear a stupid Christmas song that takes me to the backseat of my parents car on Dec. 25th on Miller’s Island. My grandfather stood tall, like a rock, in my mind, behind his bar. His stature sparked fear and wonder into our minds. Now I know he was tired from a low paying graveyard shift at a factory, enjoying his cheap beer when he get off in the early morning hours. He doesn’t walk anymore. He needs an oxygen mask to breathe after decades of smoking harsh cigarettes. One of hiss children recently visited him for the first time in two years as he laid in his hospital bed, and after his own son left the room, he turned to his wife and inquired as to whom the gentleman was. And driving to my empty house at 7:30am, flicking a cigarette out my car window, I heard a song and realized I’m a fucking grown up.

Felix the polar bear chews on a £1,300 camera lens dropped into his enclosure at Nuremberg Zoo, Germany. The giant 10ft bear quickly investigated the new toy, before realising it couldn’t be eaten and hurled it into his pool.

My grandpa always read “Where the Sidewalk Ends” to the grand-kids. I couldn’t pick which illustration or poem I liked the most so I got one to represent them all. I couldn’t be happier with it. <3
